Romance is Murdered
In our high stress, fast paced world people are finding it harder and harder to keep their love alive and fresh. In the struggle to pay the bills, meet deadlines, and get things done we are putting the most important thing we have the lowest on the list. At this point in our culture romance isnt just dead, it has been viciously murdered.
After a hard day of work we get together with our loved ones over dinner, where we converse about our days, and share in things that the other one feels is important. Or do we? More and more work is coming home from us, and that is if we leave for work at all. Black Berries, texting, and telecommuting have all blurred the lines between work and home. If the work day never ends how are you supposed to spend time with your lover? If you want to resuscitate your love life, then you need to shut it off. Turn off any device that connects you to work, let work know ahead of time that you arent going to be available during this time anymore.
Dating costs money, and if you are being hit by the economy as hard as most families, you might not think that it is a necessary expense. Dating need not be expensive. You can prepare a simple meal at home, and watch a movie. A few other good ideas are to visit a local park and have a picnic, or visit and tour a local winery. Just the two of you being together, while focusing on each other, will help to bring back romance.
If you have kids, the chances to go on a date, or even be alone are far and few. However, you need to make it a priority. Wait until the kids are in bed, and sit outside enjoying a glass of wine. If the kids are old enough to spend some time home alone, go out and take a walk together, exploring your neighborhood together in a different way is a fantastic way to make your love last.
Sometimes we take advantage of those we are closest to. We think that because they are here now, they will always be around. It is this complacency that causes people to get caught up in life and forget to look to their side, where their best friend should be.
