If you are single and trying to come up with a date that shows that you are interesting and fun to be around, you might want to think outside of the box. While there is nothing wrong with the old fashioned dinner and a movie, it does get a bit old. Try touring a local winery instead!
Check with your local wineries and see which of them offer tours and the times and days of the tours. If it is a small winery they may only offer tours on certain days. If they dont offer tours at all, dont write them off, they will probably have tastings, and that makes for a good date also.

Going to a winery is a good date, because it is a pretty natural setting for chatting. If you can, go there early and pack a light picnic to enjoy next to the vineyard. Go in and take the tour where you will learn things you never even thought about. The tours usually cover the vineyard to the processing room, and if you go to a larger winery they might even give you a tour of their wine cellars. The picnic will act as a good ice breaking session, and picnics are classically romantic. The walk through the vineyard and listening to the tour guide will offer you enough entertainment and distraction to keep you each from feeling uncomfortable with each other.

Usually after the tour you go back to the front of the building and are treated to a wine tasting. This is a great way to get to know each other, because you experience the same things and give your comments on them. Plus, if you opt not to spit, you will be getting a nice buzz for cheap, or free.

Going on a date that encourages more communication will let you know if you are a good match with the other person. It will also help break the ice, and get each of you involved quicker.
