Going out on a date is a scary and emotional thing. While we are on a date, we often forget who we are, and get all wrapped up in what someone else might want us to be. There are no end all answers in the world of dating, but we can all try some techniques that will have us being ourselves.
Ditch the corny pick up lines. No one wants to be asked their sign, or if they fell from heaven. Women get sick of hearing those lines time and time again. It shows that the man has no imagination. For women, well our pick up lines havent evolved much, since we are still more likely to be the one being picked up. Instead of trying a pick up line, try a pick up truth. Both sexes can tell if someone is being genuine. If you are honest, and open from the start, it will build a better relationship than if you start it out built on someone elses script.
Pay attention. Simply watch your dates body language for clues, and keeping a good handle on yours, can make a date go more smoothly. If your date is sitting there with their arms crossed all night, chances are they were never open to this date working out. You can either try to get them to relax and open up, or you can move on. Being able to pay attention to the simple cues that you are giving and receiving will make dating go smoother.

Dont go and try to pick up people at bars. Instead go and try to find people at things you are interested in. If you like art, go to the art museum, and the events they host there. Volunteer for a cause you think is worthy of your time. This way the people you are meeting are people that you have something in common with, and you both get a chance to judge each others worth on something other than superficial things such as looks.
The most important thing to remember is to be your self. If you are nervous, say you are nervous. If you are at home and not busy, pick up the phone. No one likes to think they are getting filet mignon and end up with prime rib, but most people are just genuinely happy with prime rib.
